The idea of imposing mandatory professional development courses on teachers every few years may seem beneficial for keeping them updated. However, I concur with Beth’s perspective that such a policy can be overly burdensome. Many educators are already overwhelmed by their current responsibilities, which include planning lessons, grading, and managing extracurricular activities. Therefore, adding compulsory courses could lead to burnout and reduce the quality of education. Instead, a more voluntary and supportive approach would be preferable, offering workshops, conferences, or online courses that teachers can choose based on their specific needs and interests. These flexible, optional learning opportunities enable educators to enhance their skills and teaching methods at their own pace.

この5レベルの回答の文を書けるようにする作業により、自分のWriting力を向上できます。

ではどのような作業か、実際におこなっていただきましょう。ここでは最初の2文のみ扱います。

mandatory「義務的な、強制的な」、burdensome「面倒な、手間のかかる」はともにBさんの投稿で使われていた表現であり、借用しています。
また表現力を示すために impose「（義務・負担など）を課す、負わす」、overly「過度に、あまりにも」、concur with 「〜に同意する、賛成である」を使っています。

 

では、1文ずつ復唱していただきます。

 

※ 「復唱」とは、1文、また長ければ1文の途中までを音読し、その後音読した箇所を何も見ないで繰り返す作業。1文を見ないで繰り返すためには、そこで使われている表現に慣れければならない。復唱出来るようにするために、必要に応じて黙読、音読を繰り返す。復唱を行うのは1文ずつであり、段落などのいくつもの文のまとまりを覚える「暗唱」とは異なる。

 

まずは最初の文を音読してください。

その後、視線を外し、音読した1文をそのまま言ってください。

簡単には復唱できないかもしれません。復唱が難しい方は、ここで使われている表現に慣れていない、または表現のまとまりが捉えられていないからと思われます。

人間は7桁くらいまでなら問題なく覚えられるなどと言われたりもします。つまり、人間が一度に覚えられる情報は7つくらいまでということ。

 

20語を別々の情報と捉えると覚えるのが厳しくなります。ではどうすればよいのか？

 

20語を7以下の表現のまとまりにし、それぞれの表現のまとまりに慣れればよいのです。例えば以下なら6つのまとまり。

この文の復唱が難しいという方は、意味のかたまりを少しずつ長くして言えるようにしてください。

いかがでしょうか。このようにして数語の表現のまとまりをつなげていくと復唱がしやすくなります。

 

もちろん、いくつの表現のまとまりと捉えるかは、その人次第です。6つではなく、3つや4つ、5つや7つでも問題ありません。いずれにせよ、復唱ができるようになるにはそれぞれの表現のまとまりに慣れる必要があります。数語のまとまりごとに覚えていく意識をもって復唱しましょう。

以上、サンプル回答の文を復唱して一時的に覚えることによりWriting表現力を向上させる方法を紹介しました。

 

文を1度暗記することによって、そこでの表現を覚える、表現を正確に使えるようになることを狙いとしています。

 

時間がどれだけかかるかは、人によって大きく変わります。もともと慣れている表現であれば、すぐに書けるはず。時間がかかるということは表現力不足を示しているので、1文1文に対してじっくり時間をかけてください。慣れていない表現をスラスラと書けるようになれば、表現力が向上します。

 

しかしながらこれらの文を復唱するのは難しいという方もいらっしゃるかも。このサンプル回答は評価点4-5を取れるようにするためのものであり、すでに評価点3以上のWriting回答を書ける人にとって非常に有用です。

 

現時点で評価点2くらいのWriting力の方にとってはかなり難易度が高いかもしれません。そのような人のために、次回、評価点3（Writingセクションで20点くらい）獲得を目指す人向けのサンプル回答を紹介します。
