と2回にわたってSpeakingセクションでの評価点2と3の違いについてRubrics「評価基準」に基づいて説明しました。
今回はその続きの内容になり、評価点3と4の違いについて書きます。
評価点4はSpeakingセクションでのそれぞれのタスクに対する回答への最も高い評価であり、当然、そこで求められるパフォーマンスは優れたものになります。
これから評価点4レベルのパフォーマンスと評価点3にあたるものをRubricsに基づいて比べます。
評価点2と3の比較においてはIndependentとIntegratedを分けて2回にわたって解説しましたが、評価点4はIndependent、Integratedの内容ににほとんど差がないので、今回両方とも扱います。
これまで同様、Rubricsの訳は理解しやすさを優先し、かなり意訳しています。

General Description「概要」
＜4点、Independent & Integrated＞
The response fulfills the demands of the task, with at most minor lapses in completeness. It is highly intelligible and exhibits sustained, coherent discourse. A response at this level is characterized by all of the following:
回答は、問題での要求を満たしている。
ミスがあっても、ちょっと言葉につまる程度。
非常に明瞭な回答になっており、同じペースで話し続け、分かりやすい。
3つの評価項目のうち、3点の特徴を3つすべて持っている。
＜3点、Independent & Integrated＞
The response addresses the task appropriately but may fall short of being fully developed. It is generally intelligible and coherent, with some fluidity of expression, though it exhibits some noticeable lapses in the expression of ideas. A response at this level is characterized by at least two of the following:
問題に対して適切に回答しているものの、十分に展開されていないところがある。
全体的に分かりやすく、論理的であり、ところどころ流暢に話せていることも。
しかし、考えを伝える際に言葉につまってしまうところが目立つ。
3つの評価項目のうち、3点の特徴を少なくとも2つ持っている。
General Descriptionにおいては4点、3点ともにIndependentとIntegratedの評価基準の文言が同じなので、Independent、Integratedを別々に掲載していません。
上記での違いから
「展開にもの足りないところがある」
「ところどころ言葉につまってしまう」
と4点の獲得は難しいことが分かります。
また、両者の違いで最も大切なのは
評価点4を獲得するには3つの評価項目（Delivery、Language Use、Topic Delvelopment）すべてで4点レベルに到達している必要がある
ということ。
例えば、Language Use、Topic Developmentが4点レベルでも、Deliveryが3点レベルだと評価点4になりません。
それに対して評価点3は、2つの評価項目が3点レベルならOK。
この後で触れるDelivery「話すペース・流暢さ、明瞭な発話、発音、イントネーション」が、採点官が「聞き取りにくいな」と思うことがほとんどないくらいでないとSpeakingでの4獲得は難しいと言えます。
続いて
Delivery「話すペース・流暢さ、明瞭な発話、発音、イントネーション」
＜4点 – Independent＞
Generally well-paced flow (fluid expression). Speech is clear. It may include minor lapses, or minor difficulties with pronunciation or intonation patterns, which do not affect overall intelligibility.
＜4点 – Integrated＞
Speech is generally clear, fluid, and sustained. It may include minor lapses or minor difficulties with pronunciation or intonation. Pace may vary at times as the speaker attempts to recall information. Overall intelligibility remains high.
それぞれに対する表現は異なるものの、言っている内容はほぼ同じなので、下にまとめたものを書きます。
全体的に話のペースは一定で、流暢に話せ、明瞭である。
ちょっと言いよどんだり、発音やイントネーションが分かりにくいところがあるかも。
（Integrated：問題の情報を思い出そうとしてペースがゆっくりになることも。）
しかし、だからと言って全体の理解に支障はなく、分かりやすい。
＜3点 – Independent＞
Speech is generally clear, with some fluidity of expression, though minor difficulties with pronunciation, intonation, or pacing are noticeable and may require listener effort at times (though overall intelligibility is not significantly affected).
＜3点 – Integrated＞
Speech is generally clear, with some fluidity of expression, but it exhibits minor difficulties with pronunciation, intonation, or pacing and may require some listener effort at times. Overall intelligibility remains good, however.
3点もIndependent、Integrated両方で言ってることは変わらないので、以下はまとめたものになります。
話はだいたい分かりやすい。スラスラと話しているところもある。
でも発音やイントネーションが少し分かりにくかったり、話のペースが一定でなかったりと、採点官が意識的に理解しようとしなければならないときも。
とは言っても、全体的には理解できる。
Deliveryにおける4点と3点の違いですが
4点では、Independent、Integratedともに
It may include minor lapses, or minor difficulties with pronunciation or intonation patterns
「ちょっと言いよどんだり、発音やイントネーションが分かりにくいところがあるかも。」
3点では
（Independent）…, though minor difficulties with pronunciation, intonation, or pacing are noticeable and may require listener effort at times …
（Integrated）…, but it exhibits minor difficulties with pronunciation, intonation, or pacing and may require some listener effort at times.
「でも発音やイントネーションが少し分かりにくかったり、話のペースが一定でなかったりと、採点官が意識的に理解しようとしなければならないときも。」
と、ともにminor difficulties … と一見同じようなことを言っているように思えるかもしれませんが、3点のところではnoticeable「目立つ」が入っているだけではなく、require listener effort「聞き手の努力が必要となる」という表現が使われています。
listenerとはここでは採点官のこと。
つまり、Speaking回答を聞いた採点官が回答の大体に対して「内容理解のために意識的に集中して聞き取ろう」とする必要があると4点獲得は困難になります。ネイティブスピーカーが、回答のほとんどに対して、苦労なく聞き取れるくらいの「話すペース・流暢さ、明瞭な発話、発音、イントネーション」の良さが評価点4には求められるということです。
そして
Language Use「語彙・表現と文法・構文の豊富さや正しさ、自然さ」
＜4点 – Independent＞
The response demonstrates effective use of grammar and vocabulary. It exhibits a fairly high degree of automaticity with good control of basic and complex structures (as appropriate). Some minor (or systematic) errors are noticeable but do not obscure meaning.
回答は、文法や語彙を効果的に使っている。
基本的な、そして複雑な文構造を上手く、そしてかなり自然に使用している。
ちょっとした、または文法上のミスが目立っても、意味が分かりにくくなるほどではない。
＜4点 – Integrated＞
The response demonstrates good control of basic and complex grammatical structures that allow for coherent, efficient (automatic) expression of relevant ideas. Contains generally effective word choice. Though some minor (or systematic) errors or imprecise use may be noticeable, they do not require listener effort (or obscure meaning).
回答は、基本的な、そして複雑な文法構造を上手く用いている。
結果、適切なポイントを論理的に、そして効果的に、自然に表現できている。
大体において効果的な語彙の選択ができている。
ちょっとした、または文法上のミス、不正確な表現が目立ったとしても、採点官が意識的に聞き取ろうとしなければならないほではなく、また意味が分かりにくいわけではもない。
＜3点 – Independent＞
The response demonstrates fairly automatic and effective use of grammar and vocabulary, and fairly coherent expression of relevant ideas. Response may exhibit some imprecise or inaccurate use of vocabulary or grammatical structures or be somewhat limited in the range of structures used. This may affect overall fluency, but it does not seriously interfere with the communication of the message.
＜3点 – Integrated＞
The response demonstrates fairly automatic and effective use of grammar and vocabulary, and fairly coherent expression of relevant ideas. Response may exhibit some imprecise or inaccurate use of vocabulary or grammatical structures or be somewhat limited in the range of structures used. Such limitations do not seriously interfere with the communication of the message.
ここにおいても、両方の評価項目はほとんど変わらないので、以下まとめたものになります。
まあまあ自然に話せているし、文法や語彙は効果的に使えている。
問題内容と関連した考えをまあまあ論理的に述べている。
語彙や文法が不正確、または不明瞭なところがあったり、使われる文構造には多様性があまりない。
これらにより流暢さが損なわれるところがあっても、何言っているのか分からないというほどでもない。
Language Use 4点の説明から
（Independent）Some minor (or systematic) errors are noticeable but do not obscure meaning.
「ちょっとした、または文法上のミスが目立っても、意味が分かりにくくなるほどではない。」
（Integrated）Though some minor (or systematic) errors or imprecise use may be noticeable, they do not require listener effort (or obscure meaning).
「ちょっとした、または文法上のミスが目立っても、意味が分かりにくくなるほどではない。」
と、ミスがnoticeableでも4点獲得の可能性があると分かります。
しかし「意味が分かりにくくなるほど」であってはならないので、意味理解に支障がでないような範囲での単数/複数や冠詞、時制、単語の語尾などの基本的なミスに限られるということでしょう。
最後に
Topic Development「話の展開・つながり、分かりやすさ、意見や理由のサポート・具体例」
＜4点 – Independent＞
Response is sustained and sufficient to the task. It is generally well developed and coherent; relationships between ideas are clear (or clear progression of ideas).
一定のペースで話し続け、問題に対して十分に回答している。大体において上手く展開されていて、内容のつながりは明確で論理的である。
＜4点 – Integrated＞
The response presents a clear progression of ideas and conveys the relevant information required by the task. It includes appropriate detail, though it may have minor errors or minor omissions.
内容は上手く展開しており、問題で求められる関連情報を伝えている。情報の間違いや不足が少しはあるかもしれないが、適切な詳細が含まれている。
＜3点 – Independent＞
Response is mostly coherent and sustained and conveys relevant ideas/information. Overall development is somewhat limited, usually lacks elaboration or specificity. Relationships between ideas may at times not be immediately clear.
回答のほとんどにおいて筋が通っていて、同じペースで話し続けられている。また関連した考えや情報がちゃんと語られている。
話は十分には展開されていなく、詳細や具体性に欠けることが多い。
述べられている考えのつながりが分かりにくいことも。
＜3点 – Integrated＞
The response is sustained and conveys relevant information required by the task. However, it exhibits some incompleteness, inaccuracy, lack of specificity with respect to content, or choppiness in the progression of ideas.
回答は途切れることなく話され、問題で求められる関連情報をちゃんと伝えている。
しかし、一部、不完全だったり、不正確だったり、問題内容に関連した詳細が欠けていたり、考えが繋がって発展していなかったり。
Integratedで4点を獲得するには、Listening、Reading情報に対する間違いや不足はあってもほんのすこしでなければなりません。
Independent、Integratedの3点の解説から、4点レベルと比べると様々な点において不十分、不完全、不正確なところがあると分かります。
ということで、Rubricsにおける4点と3点の評価基準項目を確認しました。
3つの評価基準すべてで4点レベルになるのは簡単ではないとご理解いただけるかと思います。
